some nice doll items at IKEA

I went to IKEA yesterday and found some cute items for my AG dolls. I just want to say that I don't actually own any AG food or place settings so I don't know if these items are to scale but I think they are.

In the children's department they have a lovely china teaset for $9.99. I didn't purchase it, but if I remember correctly it was a four person/doll setting. In the same area there was a glass set (actaully plastic) which I did purchase. I believe they are the perfect AG size. I think they were about $2.

In the candle area there were glass "plates" (to put pillar candles on) that would work great for dolls. They are $1 each. There were also adorable little bowls in the same department, same price. The bowls come in blue or natural. The plates were clear.

In the children's dept. there was an adorable cooing set that had a pot and other items. I think they may be too big for AG dolls, but it would make a perfect gift for a child. They can really be used on the stove! I don't remember the price but it was probably between $10-15.

I hope this helps somebody. I was so excited to purchase some of these items, and at such great prices!

Yes, these IKEA items are great for the dolls. I still have the Duktig tea service in hiding because I still didn't paint it as planned. The glasses are perfect too.

Compared to the tea service the seperate set of plates, those are a larger scale, the same with the cookery set. However considering that the dolls represent girls about 10 years old, then the size isn't too off, as for real girls this age and size the real plates, pots and pans would be a bigger size too.

Kamilla's Kirsten also has a custom-made IKEA doll bed.

Wow! you did a wonderful job on that bed. We have the same one, but I am sorry to say that ours is unimproved. The funny thing is that we got that bed when our oldest was 2 years old to use for her baby dolls. It took me about 6 months after getting our first AG doll to realize that it was an AG-size bed. Of course, it was in the basement after DD and her cousins had broken it while trying to sleep on it themselves. Even though we did repair the bed, I don't think it is worth the effort of painting it in its current condition; maybe I need to make another visit to Ikea [img]biggrin.gif[/img] .
Your knitting is just gorgeous too! I am a big fan of Kipper, and your Kipper sweater is precious.

Stephanie, thanks for the suggestions. I am becoming increasingly interested in supplying our dolls with non-AG products. I recently realized the miniature cast-iron pan we had purchased as a spoon rest a few years ago is the perfect size for Addy's sweet potato pudding set. Now I need to convince DH to let the girls and I have it!

Thanks for the compliments. The bed and the little trunk are a nice substitute. Susan had a picture of the trunk and bed her parents made her and I copied the design but wasn't able to paint as beautifully. However, I was fairly pleased with the result of my painting work.

Aryn, I bought the bed at Ikea - it was about $20 and comes untreated. So you can do lots of things with it - just leave it plain or wax it or paint it.

Shawn - or anybody else - if you want the instructions of the Kipper sweater, just let me know. I scanned and translated them a few months ago into English as someone else was interested in it and I can mail it.

Marymax you're right, once you start looking around there are lots of things suitable for the AG's. We're now running around looking and finding nice bits and pieces for the dolls.

Isn't it funny how we are always looking at things as to whether they could be used for American Girls? We picked up some small birds that are supposed to hang on the rim of a planter, but they are the perfect size for the dolls to hold, it looks like they are perched on their hands!
